Message from New CGS-MN President - Kathya Dawe
Dear friends and members of the Citizens for Global Solutions MN,
Greetings from Minnesota and happy 2021!
It is a great honor to have been elected the President of this unique organization and, as this new journey began on January 1, 2021, my heart is filled with multiple feelings - gratitude, hope, humility and an immense desire to contribute to the continuous growth and development of the organization. My gratitude for the opportunity to be here and to be able to serve. My hope is that together this excellent and dedicated board of directors, members, old and new friends, we can work to make the world a better and peaceful place, with justice, equity, and where all children, men and women have their fundamental human rights protected. My humility recognizes that this is almost a herculean task for a small organization such as ours, but thankfully we have the will power and we join forces with hundreds of thousands of people and organizations around the globe that have the same goal.
I cannot neglect to recognize that CGS-MN today stands on the shoulders of exceptional citizens who set the foundation and inspired us to be what we are and to do what we do. My immediate predecessors, Nancy Dunlavy and Kristi Rudelius-Palmer, who were president and vice-president for the last three and a half years undoubtedly belong to this fine lineage, to whom I extend my admiration and gratitude for their outstanding work leading the team to greatness.
For this year we are excited to announce that the program “Third Thursday Global Films Discussion Group” will continue. Please check our website and Facebook page for updates and register to receive the zoom link. In addition, CGS-MN will start hosting a Forum to discuss human rights and other topics of global interest. The first Forum will occur in March and will discuss women’s issues in celebration to the International Women’s day. Details coming soon. Check in the website. It is my sincere wish that our accomplishments are the size of our dreams and I invite you to join us and be part of making history!
Warmly,
Kathya Dawe
